The French automotive industry
France is a leading auto producer and one of the main automotive markets in Europe. Carmakers in France produced more 3 million vehicles in 2007.
This represents 18 % of production in Europe, and ranks France 2nd in Europe.
With 36 million vehicles in circulation (30 million cars and 5.4 million utility vehicles), France is also one of the largest automobile markets in Europe (1st January 2007). In 2007, over 2.5 million new passenger cars were registered.
